Our Home Part II

Our bathroom

Women's Burberry Original and Men's Burberry London

Some of our current favorite novels

Mannequin to drape my jewelry on and a vintage
humpback trunk we store our extra blankets in.

Alan's beloved boots...he just can't get enough

Glass door knobs... a favorite detail of mine

Our tiny bedroom closet

Our bed with a white down comforter (Target)
and a cedar chest to hold lingerie (ooh-la-la)
Most of our home decor is purchased at estate sales or given to us by friends and family.

I love the idea of hiding scripture all over your home and I think that will be the next project.

Actually I should probably take Paula's advice on two ellie and organize our home first...

And maybe purge a few things...maybe:)

Be mine

Hope everyone gets to spend valentine's day with someone they love.

Celebrate love in all its forms.

In honor of this day here is a playlist:

Dearest- Buddy Holly

So In Love (Acoustic version)- Icarus Account

Come away with me - Norah Jones

My love- Sia

La Vie En Rose- Louis Armstrong

Sweet Disposition- The Temper Trap

Let's Get Lost- Beck & Bat For Lashes

treasures

An old steamer trunk

300 page book of original local Birmingham architect's sketches

Portable working old singer...it's very heavy

A few of the architects tools- free

Mini buisness man books

5 Architect forum magazines from the 50's

More vintage sheet music for projects!

As promised...pictures of our adventure this morning.

We had planned to go to 5 different estate sales
but we spent all our time at this week's Bryant Estate sale!

We purchased everything for a more than reasonable price.

Afterwards we drove ourselves along with our loot over to meet our good friends
Chadwick and Erika at Mr. Chen's in Hoover!

Who could resist an old trunk and then a bubble tea?

an old favorite

A Little Princess (1995 version not the shirley temple)

This was probably my favorite movie growing up, and where I fell in love with India as well.

I went back and watched it recently but with a inspirational eye instead of just for "feel-good-movie" time.

I love the colors used for this 30's-40's New York boarding school.

Emerald green and some brass accents.

Or the opposite side of the world- India where she grew up

Exciting patterns in jewel tones that make you want to escape there.
I understand using color in decorating often time dates your rooms, but for this movie it is perfect!

When we do decide to have children down the road,
our little girl's room will probably look like the picture above.

Enjoy.

My Vintage Cube

I have finally gotten a desk space at work and I decided that I wanted to bring a bit of my home there.

The first picture is some cotton I picked in the pumpkin patch this fall in a 99 cent bottle.

I took some extra Scrabble pieces and spelled my name out.

I strung up some twine and pinned it with pearl corsage pins.

I then hung vintage postcards from small clothespins.

My pens/scissors/highlighter are in another 99 cent bottle next to my keyboard.

The sailboat picture was purchased for $1.50 a the thrift store and the books are tied loosely with twine.

The three scripture luggage tags are also hung by pearl corsage pins.

This project was a total of 12.50 total with plenty of supplies left over.

I hope this inspires you to go against the grain, and make your space your own little haven.
